Financial Advice for Widows
In many relationships it is quite common to find that one of the parties takes the lead, sometimes solely, in managing the family’s finances. When that individual dies, the survivor may need assistance to both understand what their financial position may be going forward as well as handling investments or pensions that they might be unfamiliar with.
We can help by cutting through the financial jargon and legal issues of dealing with a bereavement and ease the burden of a stressful situation.
Dealing With A Different Life
Over the years we have advised bereaved clients we have found that irrespective of the age of the Widow(er) and the emotional impact of a recent death, there is always an uncertainty about the future which may be complicated further by the need to either look after children, manage a health issue or deal with a career or business problem.
How We Help Widows
In many cases our role in assisting some Widows has consisted of simply researching what the family’s financial position might be and then explaining what the immediate and possible future financial situations might look like. If further assistance is needed we can make recommendations as to possible cash management and investment strategies as well as arranging for relevant financial products to be put in place.
Our services have been used by many legal and accounting firms for their clients and we are happy to work collaboratively with any professionals that the clients may wish us to assist. In all cases, however, we would emphasise the need for a trusted party to accompany the widow(er) in their dealings with us. We find that this reduces the number of questions not asked as part of the financial advice process and avoids the possibility of the client misunderstanding the financial impact of whatever decisions may be taken at or during the advice process.
